Under a recently awarded multi-year construction management contract with the City of San Diego, CJ Roberts has been retained to provide the construction management services for the installation of sewer and water main facilities in the Gas Lamp area of San Diego. Our Construction Manager Matt Howe is responsible for managing the General Engineering Contractor and coordinating with related City departments during replacement of 10,229 lf of sewer and water pipeline, abandonment of 4,332 lf of sewer and water pipeline, installation of over 92 ADA compliant concrete pedestrian ramps, and installation of 275,000 square feet of Type II asphalt slurry and 85,000 square feet of asphalt overlay in the heavily congested downtown and historical Gaslamp districts. Construction Cost: $5M

City of San Diego Otay Water Treatment Facility Relining

Under a recently awarded multi-year construction management contract with the City of San Diego, CJ Roberts has been retained under the first task order to provide the construction manager and special inspector for the relining and rehabilitation of the settling basins at the Otay Lake water treatment facility. The work includes the oversight and inspection of basin sandblasting and concrete repair and the relining and coating of the basins, pumps, and other features at the site.

County of San Diego South Sante Fe Avenue Realignment

The South Sante Fe Avenue project, which commenced in 2009 and completed in 2013 included the reconstruction of a 0.7-mile segment between Montgomery Drive and 700 feet east of Woodland Drive. The project widened the roadway from two lanes to four, adding approximately 1.8 new lane-miles of traveled roadway at a cost of $14 million dollars. As part of the As-Needed Construction Management contract with the County, CJ Roberts Inc provided the Office Engineer position at the construction site office. Our staff provided daily oversight of the construction activities and processing of progress payments and other construction documents.

County of San Diego San Vicente Road Reconstruction

Duyen Howe is providing Office Engineer services for the San Vicente Improvement Project which will realign approximately 2.5 miles segment of San Vicente Road from Warnock Drive 1,100 feet east of Wildcat Canyon Road in Ramona, including installation of two bicycle lanes, a stabilized DG pathway on the west and south side of the road, a graded pathway on the east and north side of the road, drainage improvements to accommodate the 100-year flood, and  joint trench and eliminating all overhead utilities.  The improvement will benefit the community by enhancing safety for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and equestrians by eliminating vertical and horizontal curves.  Cost $22.6 million dollars.


Westfield As-Needed Construction Inspection

Description:    CJ Roberts has maintained an on-going as-needed construction support contract with Westfield since the company was established in 2009. We have provided construction engineering to troubleshoot issues that arise and are the responsible in charge for the inspection of all Westfield’s projects in San Diego County. One such project that is the UTC Mall Reconstruction. CJ Roberts provided engineering and 24 hour inspection services for Phase I and is now gearing up for the second phase of work to include a parking structure and substantial reconstruction of the existing mall tenant properties. Out other work include projects at Horton Plaza, Carlsbad El Camino Real, North County Fair Mall, and Plaza Bonita Mall.

Camp Pendleton P-1069 School of Infantry

Description:    Harper Construction is constructing BEQs, a Parking Structure, and a Reservoir in this design build package for the School of Infantry at Area 52 in Camp Pendleton, CA. CJ Roberts proved special inspection and non-destructive testing and materials testing for this project as well as fabrication inspection and general engineering support during construction.

City of Escondido As-Needed Construction Management

Description:    CJ Roberts provided As-Needed Construction Management under a number of task orders in our contract with the City of Escondido. Responsibilities included reviews of bids, change orders, submittals, and RFIs. Some of the projects included the Lift Station #4 Replacement, the Ammonia Tank Construction, and the Reclaimed Water Bypass System at the City of Escondido HARRF facility.

Camp Pendleton P-1086 Recruit Field Barracks

Description:    TB Penick is constructed field recruit barracks at Ranges 505 and 501 Camp Pendleton, CA. The project included over 20 structures as well as utilities, PV system, and new roads. CJ Roberts is proved special inspection and non-destructive testing and materials testing for this project as well a soils investigations and general engineering support during construction.
